I have tried so many times to get closed minded people to invest their ears into music worth listening to; however, no technique seems to work properly. So, I guess I will try by posting a band on this website full of articles no one reads. My efforts are probably in vain, but at least I won't get my hopes up.
Without further ado, here is this week's highlight "Matt and Kim" with their newest single "block by block":
It's not like I am discovering a hidden talent from down below, especially considering these guys have been featured on MTV and are now even endorsed by "Tune Up", but they don't get the respect they deserve. If you have ever seen this duo live, or even videos of them playing live; you probably understand why they are so likable. It would be hard to say there is a more energetic two piece in the business! Not to mention, it's hard to listen to a song of theirs without a smiling forming across your naive face. With this being said, I am asking you to take a comfortable step out of "Main Stream", and into "Less Main Stream", if you will. Considering our journey of music will take us into the abyssal plains of the indie music world, I figure it is a good start! Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
Much Love,
BT
Guess who's back?
If you were hoping I would never enlighten your cranium with useless information ever again, well -- I'm sorry. Yes, I am back and who knows for how long? It seems to me that posting these things emerges from times of boredom, or just moods of deep though; however, when they come a long I usually tend to take control of these. You see, I have a talent for writing, I just really hate to. So, in the case of actually feeling like it, I will. Usually, it results in this -- a post that probably no one will read -- other times however, it seems to turn out quite inspirational.
Anyways, I am not going to keep you reading any longer, I just thought the return of my presence should be noted in some way, mostly because when I don't post again for 6 months, I can remember how I promised you guys I would!
Stay classy,
BT

Your basic Pre- February Blog
With February right around the corner, I found it rather fitting to do a "Pre-February Blog", if you will. What better way to add to my already stereotypical teenage blog site than by writing about love in the early months of the year. Perhaps my different look on th content is enough to persuade you to continue to read, but it probably is not. In that case, I still got your hit; once again, I win!
In a time of broken hearts and mended wings, I stand alone in a realm of such small proportions. Being single and happy seems so rare these days; however, I think being together and happy is even more of an accomplishment. I am not a expert, and although Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Phil call me several times a week for relationship advice, my cure for this "sickness" is completely untested. No matter how successful it seems to be, none of my readers -- excuse me -- neither one of my two readers (me and my mother), actually will put this into play. Yet, I feel it necessary to point out your stupidity, something I find great joy in. Maybe in some way I feel like I am making up for all of my stupid decisions by fixing yours.
It's as simple as the two following words: stop looking. That's right, I do not go around looking for my "soul mate". In fact, I cannot tell you the last time I actually thought of a girl as more than a friend, and it seems to be working rather well. I can hang out with more girls without others getting ticked off, I do not have to worry about "relationship crap", and best of all: instead of a snickers every day, I get all different sorts of chocolate. Oh, did you catch that symbolism there? I know what you're thinking, "It's easy to say for someone that has no chance with a girl anyways". Yes, that is probably true, but do not go without giving it a try, for a week even! Just think of every guy/girl as another friend and you'll be surprised with the results. Besides, rather you believe in Jesus Christ, God, or some type of destiny, in all cases the one who was meant to be yours will fall in to place one way or another.
So get out, enjoy life, spend time with your true friends, and cherish the small moments, because the truth is, when you get married....it's GAME OVER!
Indubitably,
B.D. Turner

Where's the love?
Recently I was trying to distinguish what it really was that made me dislike, or in very few cases, like a song. I think I have made my self believe it is the talent of the songwriter or performer, yet I have come to realize this isn't the case. So many times, the best songs I hear are shown to me by my brother, Bradley Turner, yet I hardly ever like them right away. It seems that once I sit down, listen to the lyrics and the incorporation of the music, and take in what the work of art truly is, I withdraw my previous belief and -- well -- like the song! So then, what is it which so covertly takes my mind and changes its whole perception on what music I find to my liking. It's not my initial feeling, because it almost never stay intact, and it's not whether the artist is "talented", because there are plenty of talented artist who produce songs which disgust me!
While I was listening to one of my favorite songs, "Letters from the Sky" by Civil Twilight, I noticed something that caught my attention. The song is full of love. It really is that simple. It's not the chord structure, for I am far from that musically inclined; it's not the artist, because I can enjoy songs regardless of who produced it; and frankly, it's not the instruments used. It's just simply love. Let's take into account that their are plenty of songs with lovely lyrics that I cannot stand due to the lucid fact that the music is terrible. Yet, in essence, it is love that separates my favorites from the ones I simply enjoy.
One of my favorites:
"That you and I were made for this
I was made to taste your kiss
We were made to never fall away
Never fall away
"
One of my least favorites:
"Take a bite of my bad girl meat (bad girl meat)
Take a bit of me boy
Show me your teeth
The truth is sexy
"
The first song is simply love and nothing less. While this lyric may seem a little obscure due to its "stalkerish-like" tone, its beautiful and from the heart. The second lyric; however, is lust and nothing else. I mean REALLY Lady Gaga, "take a bite of my bad girl meat". It makes me gag and smirk at the same time. (If that is possible)Let it be known, I don't think the lyrics to any of her songs are truly from the heart, but are merely money signs written onto a black sheet of paper. The over all point is, music just is not attractive without its key essential. Writing music without love is like watching "twilight" and not owning 20 cats. It just doesn't fit right.
The secret to writing great music -- besides the necessary skill:

My Radio Station!
Okay, so I was bored enough to actually start my own internet radio station. The crazy thing is, it was a complete success. After only two episodes, we have had 30 plays! I am stoked. It is super fun to do and I am proud to provide people with decent music. Do me a HUGE favor and check it out!
